We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our team here at Deutschmann Personal Injury Law: Nick de Koning! With a wealth of experience and a passion for serving his community, Nick brings a unique perspective and skill set to our firm.
A longtime resident of the Waterloo Region, Nick has called this vibrant community home since 1992. Although his roots trace back to Alberta and Saskatchewan, Nick has truly embraced the Ontario lifestyle. His journey in academia led him to the University of Waterloo, where he earned an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in 1998. Nick's pursuit of knowledge didn't stop there; he also completed journalism courses at Conestoga College and obtained a diploma in General Arts and Sciences before embarking on his legal career.
After graduating from law school at Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario) in 2002, Nick wasted no time in making his mark in the legal field. He joined Miller Thomson, where he honed his expertise in personal injury law and quickly rose through the ranks to become a partner in 2009. Over the years, Nick has accumulated a wealth of experience in handling a wide range of personal injury matters, with a particular focus on statutory accident benefit disputes and long-term disability claims.
Nick's dedication to his clients and his commitment to justice have not gone unnoticed. His name appears in numerous reported decisions of the Superior Court of Justice, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), and the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT). Whether advocating for injured plaintiffs or defending claims made against insurance companies, Nick approaches each case with integrity and compassion.
Beyond his legal career, Nick is deeply involved in his community. From serving on the board of the Clay and Glass Gallery to volunteering with organizations like the Motorcycle Ride for Dad, Nick is dedicated to making a positive impact wherever he goes. He also generously donates his time as a volunteer panel member on the City of Waterloo's Licensing Appeals Committee and as a mediator and arbitrator for the local Better Business Bureau's dispute resolution program.
Nick's commitment to service extends to his personal life as well. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Cheryl, and a loving father to their two daughters, Olivia and Claire. Together, they enjoy exploring new places both near and far, supporting local sports teams like the Kitchener Rangers and KW Titans, and getting involved in their community through various activities and initiatives.
As Nick embarks on this new chapter in his career as a partner at Deutschmann Personal Injury Law, we are confident that his expertise, passion, and dedication will continue to make a difference in the lives of our clients. Please join us in welcoming Nick to our team! We look forward to the valuable contributions he will undoubtedly bring to our firm and the communities we serve.
